2. Too dark Chinchillas
Chinchilla or Agouti?
There still seems to be difficulty,( it would seem purposely on the part of some people! ) in recognising the (obvious) differences between a correctly marked and coloured Chinchilla and an equally good quality Agouti.
The standard/guidance notes couldn't be more explicit in their description of ideal specimens of both breeds.
I'll keep things simple by highlighting the White/Beige Chinchilla and the Cinnamon Agouti.
The Cinnamon Agouti: Deep rich cinnamon undercolour with sharp silver ticking extending over the head, body, chest and feet. Belly to be rich silver and free from whiteness. In other words DARK, NO MARKINGS.
The White/Beige Chinchilla: Beige mink base, to be as pale a shade as possible, with long white ticking and white markings consisting of eye circles, nostrils, jowls, chest and belly. In other words PALE, WITH MARKINGS
Below is a gallery for comparison, Cinnamon , Silver, Lemon and Cream Agouties on the left, alongside the White/Beige, White/Grey, Cream/Grey and Cream/Beige Chinchillas on the right.
